ABBA memorabilia auction ABBA vowed they would never reunite after their split in 1983, putting a cap on the amount of memorabilia available to collectors

The single, one of only 200 produced for band manager Stig Anderson's 50th birthday in 1981, brought $6,446 - a 74.2% increase on its $3,700 high estimate.

The remarkable collection comes from Thomas Nordin, who has been amassing ABBA items since the band won the Eurovision song contest with their hit Waterloo back in 1974. Hailed as the largest ever assembled, it contains over 25,000 pieces of memorabilia.

ABBA rare bag Nordin began his collection when he was just nine years old, after seeing ABBA's performance of Waterloo on the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest

Rare records were among the most prized items in the sale, with Saang till Goerel, a song recorded for record company assistant Goerel Hanser's 30th birthday in 1979 also offered. It is one of just 50 copies.

Elsewhere, a purple vest with ABBA across the chest made $4,835, while a red bag brought $1,995. A rare soap from the band's official merchandise realised $613.

Also starring were Nordin's press clippings of the band, which span from 1974 until the present day. These are particularly sought after as the band's staff did not start collecting them until later in their career.
