The green jacket awarded to the first Masters golf champion, Horton Smith, is selling online

The green jacket awarded to the first ever Masters champion, golfing great Horton Smith, is auctioning online.

Bobby Jonesestablished the Masters tournament in 1934 and Smith was its first winner, lifting the trophy again in 1936.

Winners began receiving the green jacket in 1949, although the previous nine champions from the tournament's inception also received jackets retrospectively - this being one of them.

The item is currently selling for $60,229 at the Green Jacket Auctions sale, which ends on September 9.

Bobby Jones' own green jacket sold for $310,000 at Heritage Auctions in 2011.
