'Holy grail' cigars go under the hammer

Discontinued smokes from the likes of Habanos CA, Cuban Davidoff and Dunhill will sell in London

Here is some great news for collectors of out-of-production vintage Cuban cigars: UK retailer CGars Ltd will be holding an auction of aged, rare specimens on December 1, in London.

Highlighting the sale will be pre-Cuban embargo (pre-1962) cigars, Cuban Davidoff - the "holy grail" for collectors - and Dunhill Havana.

Each of the 100 lots, all Cuban, willbe limited-edition, sold alongside rare and unique humidors.

Lots include boxes of Davidoff 2000 and 4000 cigars, and a pre-embargo glass jar of Punch Presidentes.

Dunhill cigars will include Hoyo de Monterrey Seleccin Suprema No. 159, Partagas Seleccin Suprema No. 154 in a cabinet of 50, and Montecristo election Supreme No. 1.

"Cuban Davidoff and Dunhill Havana cigars, which are becoming as rare as hen's teeth," Mitchell Orchant of Cigars Ltd, the event organisers, told Cigar Insider.

The auction will be held at the Belgravia, an up-scale private club-level Regency townhouse in London, starting at 7pm.
