The Shure Brothers Model 55S is expected to sell for more than $10,000 on December 14 in Dallas. It was originally part of the studios at LA radio station KWKH, and was used during the famed Louisiana Hayride broadcasts.

The Louisiana Hayride was responsible for launching the careers of some of the top names in country and western music, including Johnny Cash and George Jones. Presley first performed on the show in 1954 and gave a further two performances before the show ended in 1960.

In his final December 15, 1956 performance, the microphone was used to project the now-famous words of Hayride announcer Horace Logan: "Elvis has left the building". Logan was simply trying to get the excited audience back in their seats, but the phrase was often repeated at Elvis' future concerts to dispel any hopes of an encore.

The microphone remained with KWKH until 1975, when it was sold along with the rights and name of the Louisiana Hayride to David Kent, who had set up his own country music broadcast to revive the legendary show. It has been consigned to auction by Kent's son, whom it was passed to in 1992.

Also featuring in the sale is an Elvis owned and worn ruby and diamond ring, which Elvis took from his middle finger and gave to Sam Thompson (the brother of his girlfriend Linda) as a bonus following a 10-day stint at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1976. Featuring a 10k yellow gold band with a star ruby at its centre, it is expected to bring $8,000+. It comescomplete with a letter of authenticity from Thompson himself.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb selection of Elvis Presley memorabilia currently available, including authentic strands of the singer's hair that were taken from his notorious army hair cut.
