Hilary Kay (born 1958) is an antiques expert who has appeared on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow since 1979. Her main area of expertise is toys, although she is also passionate about classic cars and music memorabilia.

Career

Kay began her career with a spell at auctioneer Spink and Son before moving to Sotheby’s in 1977, where she became head of the collectors’ department at the age of 21 and was the company’s youngest ever auctioneer.

She left Sotheby’s in 1999 having attained the title of senior director, and now runs her own company, Art & Antique Events.

Antiques Roadshow

Kay joined the Antiques Roadshow in 1979 at the age of 21. “We have a great time. There's a big dinner the night before the shoot happens, which is always fun,” she told the UK’s Independent newspaper.
