Henry Tang wine collection offered by Christie's at $3.7m

Christie's will sell one of Asia's premier collections of Burgundy wine, that of Henry Tang

Former Hong Kong chief secretary Henry Tang's wine collection is to sell at Christie's in a two-day sale that runs March 15-16.

Henry Tang wine collection auction Christie's Every bottle will be sold with a special seal to indicate its illustrious provenance

The collection is one of the largest and most important amassments of Burgundy in Asia, with an estimated value of $3.7m. It includes Henri Jayer's 1990 Cros Parantoux, 1978 Montrachet and the 2000 vintage from Clos de la Roche.

Despite controversy surrounding his every move, Tang insists that his reason for selling is that he has too many bottles, telling the Decanter: "I simply have way too much wine to drink. I have been giving away wine to friends and family simply to reduce the stock, but still have too much to manage."

Paul Fraser Collectibles will bring you the results of this sale shortly. Find more of the latest news on wine collecting in our Wine, Whisky and Spirits section.
