Hank Williams' Nudie boots among top lots in Remembering Waylon sale

Hank Williams' Nudie boots are valued at $60,000 ahead of the October 5 auction

A pair of country musician Hank Williams' Nudie cowboy boots will feature in the Remembering Waylon auction at Guernsey's in New York on October 5.

The sale will feature a wealth of lots from the life and career of the great outlaw country singer Waylon Jennings.

Nudie boots Hank Hank Williams was a huge fan of Nudie Cohn's tailoring

The boots, valued at $40,000-60,000, display the outrageous styling that Nudie Cohn became known for, featuring a motif of eagles with Hs at their chests.

Cohn was born in Russia at the turn of the century and emigrated to the US in 1913. After drifting around the US and spending time in and out of prison he founded Nudie's for the Ladies in Manhattan, a shop that specialised in making lingerie for strippers.

Later on, he moved to California where he founded Nudie Rodeo Tailors. It was there he began to produce the iconicsuits beloved of country singers.

Hank Williams was a regular customer and owned several, which he often wore onstage.

The sale will include everything fromguitars to old credit cards.Also on offer area motorbike belonging to Buddy Holly (valued at $100,000-1m) and a pair of Willie Nelson's braids ($50,000-60,000).
