Auctions & valuations

The company conducts regular auctions several times each year at the Sotheby's salerooms in New Bond Street, London. Valuations by appointment are also available at the same location.

Saleroom valuations are available free of charge, with a comprehensive valuation service for the purposes of insurance also offered for entire collections or single items.

  • The Ascot Racecourse wrought & cast iron entranceway to the winner’s enclosure from the racetrack - sold for £280,000 in May 2005
  • A collection of John Wisden's Cricketers' Almanacks from the first year of issue 1864 - sold for a World Record price of £120,000 in May 2007
  • The 1874 Open Championship medal won by the Scottish golfer Mungo Park - sold for a World Record price of £48,000 in May 2005
  • The sand iron club used by Willie Park senior during his four Open Championship victories between 1860 & 1875 - sold for £25,000 in May 2005
  • A highly rare single-sheet programme for the 1889 F.A. Cup final between Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers - sold for a World Record price of £19,000 in May 2006
