Glenrothes 690 bottled tribute to a legendary distiller
The John Ramsey Legacy medium golden whisky is limited to 100 bottlings
Glenrothes has released a special bottling to celebrate the work of John Ramsey, the Edrington distillery's legendary Malt Master.
Mr Ramsay is due to retire in November, 2009, after 18 years of service.
The whisky is created from different ages of Glenrothes vintages from 1973 to 1987. Each one has been specially chosen by Ramsay.
Each bottle willcome in a hand-crafted box, with a booklet written by Ramsay and tasting notes.
An issued press release describes the palate as, "rich and full flavoured with balanced oak and fruit, especially mango.
"The finish is long, mature and tactile with an unmistakable American oak feel.
"[Its] appearance and colour is medium golden, clear and bright with a bouquet that is rich and spicy with blood orange and vanilla prominent," it reads.
The John Ramsay Legacy bottling is likely to be sought-after among collectors, and only 100 bottles or this unique whisky will be released.
Already, the value for each bottle is 69, and certain to appreciate in time.
Bottles can be purchased from very select whisky retailers, and from the Glenrothes itself.
