Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix whisky is a collectible type of Scotch whisky, produced by the Glenfiddich Distillery in Scotland.

Glenfiddich Distillery

The Glenfiddich Distillery was established in the whisky town of Dufftown, Scotland in 1886 by William Grant.

The company remains a family concern and is owned by William Grant & Sons.

It is currently the world’s best-selling single malt, accounting for around 35% of global single malt sales.

Glenfiddich means “valley of the deer” in Scots Gaelic.

Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix whisky

Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix whisky is a single malt, aged in casks for between 12 and 30 years, and bottled in 2010.

60,000 bottles were produced.

The single malt was produced in extremis, when several of the distillery’s roofs collapsed under a weight of snow in January 2010, exposing numerous oak casks to minus zero temperatures.

Rather than have large amounts of whisky ruined, the company instead produced a limited edition non-aged 47.6% single malt.

“A Glenfiddich single malt Scotch whisky born of chance and adversity”, is the company’s description of the whisky.

How much is Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix whisky worth?

Bottles can sell for around $150 at internet auction sites. This price could well rise in years to come due to the story behind the whisky and its one-off production, although its 60,000 bottle run may well ensure that price appreciation is slow.
