The Italian Romantic composer, Giuseppe Verdi's (1813-1901) music has transcended the traditional boundaries of genre and secured his name as one of the most influential composers of the 19th century. After the success of the opera Nabucco, Verdi's works became a symbol of Italian independence. Verdi is also known as 'the swan from Busseto'.

An autographed black and white, sepia-toned, formal portrait image, trimmed to the borders, mounted onto a thin board, (approx. 3.5x6 in). The Italian Operatic composer is shown wearing a dark suit, waistcoat and matching bowtie. Verdi has signed his name across the base of the oval image adding the place and date, Paris, April 1880 in his hand.

With minor skipping in places to the signature, although perfectly legible. With some light minor surface creasingnot affecting the signature. Mounted, framed and glazed.
