Two German silver sauce boats and stands surpassed their highest estimate at Christies yesterday hammering for £170,500. The exquisite silverware bore the mark of Heinrich Blau of Augsburg and were originally ordered by Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, for use at the Governor's Palace, Riga during the governorship of Count George von Browne.
