Dated to 1767, one of Stubb's exception equine-themed paintings is up for auction in London
An exceptional painting by British artist George Stubbs is expected to bring up to 15m when it goes under the hammer at Sotheby's on December 8.
Stubbs, born in Liverpool, remains most famous for his paintings of horses. This work, Brood Mares and Foals, dates to 1767.

According to reports, the painting has remained in the family of the Earl of Macclesfield, who has consigned it to the auction.
