George Best memorabilia discovered in London bank vault

The George Best football memorabilia has now been returned to his family

A collection of George Best memorabilia has been returned to his family, having been discovered in a London bank vault.

George Best Best is one of the most beloved football players, remembered fondly by both Manchester United and Northern Ireland fans

The collection, which includes Best's first pair of football boots, was released by the bank after Best's estate was settled by his brother-in-law Norman McNarry, co-founder and trustee at the George Best Foundation.

The boots were worn by Best while playing for the Cregagh Boys Club in Northern Ireland and have details of the goals he scored as a youngster written on them. Also in the collection are trophies, caps, shirts and more from thestar's dazzling career.

The memorabilia is expected to go on display in the coming years at a new sports museum in Northern Ireland, which is sure to become a hit with Manchester United fans.

Best's medal from Manchester United's 1968 European Cup victory sold for 156,000 ($254,628) in 2010.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has some exceptional pieces of sports memorabilia for sale, including items signed by the 1966 England World Cup winning team.
