Frank Sinatra's Anchors Aweigh sailor costume
Frank Sinatra’s Anchors Aweigh sailor costume is an outfit worn by the legendary Hollywood actor and singer during the 1945 MGM film.
The costume is a dark blue wool Navy sailor’s costume with medals and a white cotton sailor’s hat, with the handwritten label “Frank Sinatra” from the MGM costume department.
It is worn by Sinatra playing the character of Clarence Doolittle, who along with fellow sailor Joseph Brady (Gene Kelly) takes four days of shore leave in Hollywood, California and attempts to help an aspiring singer (Kathryn Grayson) get an audition at the MGM Studios.
In June 2011 the costume was placed up for sale as part of the Debbie Reynolds Collection of Hollywood costumes and props by Beverly Hills auction house Profiles in History. It had an estimated price of $10,000 - $15,000, and sold for a price of $18,450.
