Fonzie's Motorcycle To Sell At Bonhams

The forthcoming Bonhams sale at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles will feature a wide selection of classic cars, motorcycles and memorabilia. Amongst the sale's most notable lots will be the 1949 Triumph Trophy TR5 Scrambler Custom motorcycle ridden by the Fonz in the U.S television series Happy Days.

The iconic motorcycle was owned by the celebrated motorcross rider and Hollywood stuntman Bud Ekins, whose career saw him become the industry's motorcycle expert (along with performing Steve McQueen's famous fence jump in The Great Escape). He customised the bike for the show by simply chsanging the handlebars, removing the front fender and painting the tank silver to create one of television's most famous motorcycles.

The sale will also feature a number of celebrity-owned vehicles, including a 2004 Lexus Concept Car formerly owned by Tom Cruise, valued at $20,000 - $25,000, and a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Convertible given to Madonna by her former husband Sean Penn, valued at $20,000 - $25,000.

The annual sale is still in the process of inviting consignments, and is set to take place at the museum on November 12.
