Florence Nightingale's desk lamp set for auction
A desk lamp that was used by Florence Nightingale as she wrote of her experiences as a nurse in the Crimean war is to be auctioned in June.
Nightingale wrote of her war time experiences after she moved to Derbyshire following the war, where she had spent her childhood in the 1850s. Her Notes on Nursing are still considered to have shaped the profession today.
The lamp was then passed on to two servants who handed it down through generations. Now, it could bring as much as £2000 at Hansons auctions on the 26th of June.
