Extremely rare silver penny set to auction next week
A pristine King Stephen penny made in York is expected to fetch between £3,000 and £4,000 when it is auctioned next week by Spink and Sons.
The penny was minted around 1135 and 1154 and has been noted as being “extremely rare, especially so in this condition.” It is due to sell this coming Monday, September 22nd.
