The piece will highlight the Fine American & European Furniture, Silver, Folk and Decorative Art & Clocks auction on January 23.

Willard is regarded as one of the foremost Boston clockmakers of the 19th century, while the dial was painted by John Ritto Penniman - a well-regarded local painter who often worked with other craftsmen.

The clock features a moonphase dial and a bell that chimes the hour.
