A set of engraved glasses from Humphrey Bogart will sell through Mark J West

A set of11 engraved glasses that were gifted by Humphrey Bogart are to be sold by dealer Mark J West at the 23rd Winter Fine Art and Antiques Fair in London, which runs until November 10.

Humphrey Bogart engrved glasses Bogart had the set especially made by Heal's, a London furniture store that still operates today

The glasses were given by the Hollywood star to his PR man Bill Rowland Hill, as thanks for his help with 1951's The African Queen. Accompanied by a letter from Bogart to Rowland, they are expected to sell for around 3,500 ($5,580).

The glasses are engraved with Bogart's initials "HB". The letter is written on 20th Century Fox-headed notepaper from the Pinewood Studios, and signed "Bogie". It reads:

"My Dear Bill. Before I leave for home I want to say, one big 'thank you' from the bottom of my heart for all you have done publicity wise both on the set, and in Africa.

"I wanted to send you some Hootch but on second thoughts I want you to have something to put it in. Will you call at that fancy store (Heal's) on Tottenham Court Street and see a guy called Gaylard. Choose yourself a dozen glasses from the suite I have had made. Once again sport, thanks a million."

Paul Fraser Collectibles has this fantastic pair of Humphrey Bogart-worn jodhpurs - a brilliant piece from his early acting career.
