Embezzlement jewellery anticipated to net $1m for US Marshals Service

Items bought by convicted embezzler Sujata Sachdeva is going up for sale in Milwaukee tomorrow

A major embezzlement case in the US could be good news for jewellery investors.

This Saturday will see items that once belonged to Sujata Sachdeva coming to auction, courtesy of a US Marshals Service sale at the Wyndham Airport Hotel in Milwaukee.

Sachdeva is currently serving an 11-year sentence for embezzling $34m while vice president of headphone manufacturer Koss Corp.

It is hoped that around $1m will be raised at the sale of diamonds, jewellery and watches, which also takes place online.

This platinum ring has an estimate of $47,500

One of the highlights of the auction is a platinum diamond ring, with a high end estimate of $47,500.

The platinum size 5 ring is 2.30 carats and has been graded VS2.

Other notable items include diamond encrusted necklaces, and a mother of pearl diamond Rolex watch valued at $11,000.

"I believe there's a $200 item that includes some children's jewellery and some sterling silver bracelets all the way up to a $100,000 necklace," Jennifer Crane of the US Marshall Service, told WITI-TV.

A further sale of clothing, shoes, art and purses bought with Sachdeva's ill-gotten gains will take place the following weekend.

Sachdeva bought more than 22,000 items with money obtained through her fraudulent activity.
