Elvis Presley's 'Concho' jumpsuit up 97% at Julien's Auctions

While the Beatles got the top spot, Elvis Presley's 'Choncho' jumpsuit saw a fantastic increase on estimate at Julien's Auctions this weekend (May 17), proving The King's memorabilia remains in high demand.

The jumpsuit, so-called due to the concho ring fasteners, was valued at $80,000-100,000, though bidders boosted it to $197,000 - a 97% increase.

Elvis can be seen wearing the suiton stage in Las Vegas in the MGM documentary Elvis: That's the Way It Is (MGM, 1970), and is also known as "The Way It Is" jumpsuit. It was also worn during a 1971 gig in Lake Tahoe, where Presley donned a gorilla mask.

Elvis Concho jumpsuitElvis' jumpsuits are the top-selling items of his memorabilia, with his Peacock jumpsuit selling for $300,000 in 2008

An Elvis stage-played Martin acoustic guitar made $44,800, while a TCB necklace presented to Dr Nick, Elvis' personal physician, made $35,200.

Perhaps the most significant Elvis item in the sale was the original contract between the singer and his notorious manager Colonel Tom Parker, which achieved a 284% increase on its $25,000 high estimate to sell for $96,000.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has some great pieces of Elvis memorabilia for sale, including signed photographs and an authentic strand of his hair. We also have a great signed photo of Colonel Parker for sale.
