The Manchester, UK auction has received strong media attention, mainly for the sale of his unwashed underpants, which was met with repulsion from dedicated fans. Understandably, the framed y-fronts failed to sell.

However, the majority of the items in the sale were met with the impressive results that have come to be expected from Elvis' memorabilia. The annotated Bible, an important and desirable piece, sold 136% above its high estimate of 25,000 ($40,000) to achieve 59,000 ($94,388).

Given to Elvis in 1957, the book was a present from his uncle Vester Presley to mark his first Christmas at Graceland. The 1,600 page leather-bound Bible has "Elvis Presley" embossed in gold on its cover and contains numerous examples of The King's handwritten annotations.

Said to be his most precious book, the Bible accompanied Elvis throughout his life and remained with him until his death on August 16, 1977. It was joined in the sale by a letter of provenance from Vester Presleyas well asan Elvis Presley Museum certificate of authenticity, which was hand signed by Jimmy Velvet -one of Elvis' closest friends.

Also selling well was a 14 karat gold pendant, which Elvis gifted in 1975 to "one of his close friends". The piece, designed by Elvis himself in collaboration with Lee Ableser of Schwartz and Ableser's Fine Jewellery, is one of many featuring the TCB logo, which stands for Taking Care of Business - the name Elvis gave to his band. The piece made a final realisation of $4,248 ($6,800).
