Elvis Presley record player could see $3,272 in UK auction

The record player was gifted to a German woman by Elvis as a wedding present

A record player that Elvis Presley gifted to a German woman while in the army is being sold through David Lay Auctions on December 12-13 in the UK.

Elvis Presley record playerThrough extensive research, the team at David Lay Auctions believes Elvis may have used the record player's built-in amplifier to play his electric guitar through

The record player was given to Ellen Marchhauser in 1959 as a wedding present, after she went to a party with Elvis at the Hotel Grunewald in Bad Nauheim - where the singer was stationedwith the US army.

It is expected to sell for around 2,000 ($3,272), but could see far more, with Elvis collectibles always in strong demand.

"I'm nervous to suggest it's going to make some huge figure. It is an unknown quantity. Nothing like it has come on the market before," auctioneer David Lay told the BBC.

"I have never come across anything that has created so much excitement. It's a unique experience for me. We are getting a lot of interest from Germany."

The Perpetuum Ebner Musical 5v Luxus has a built-in amplifier, which the auction house believes Elvis would plug his electric guitar into in order to give impromptu performances.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has two fantastic signed photos of Elvis in the army for sale, as well as an authentic strand of hair from "that" haircut. See our full collection of Elvis memorabilia for sale.
