Elton John signed boots make $2,496 for charity

All proceeds from the sale of Elton John's signed boots will go to Amnesty International

A pair of Elton John's signed platform boots have made 1,602 ($2,496) for charity.

Signed "With love, Elton John x" and "EltonJohn, February 1997",the typically flamboyant size eights received 44 bids in the online sale, which closed on September 1.

All proceeds will go towards Amnesty International's human rights projects.

"If you're a fan of the glam rock era it doesn't get much more iconic than a pair of Elton John's six-inch platform boots," said Amnesty International's UK campaigns director, Tim Hancock, prior to the sale.
