Elizabeth, Czarina of Russia (1709-1762) (PT86)

Rare hand written order signed by the Russian Monarch

Elizaveta Petrovna (1709-1762), Czarina of Russia, was the Empress of Russia and considered a leading beauty. During her reign, the country entered into the War of Austrian succession (1740-1748) and the Seven Year's War (1756-1763).

Elizabeth was the second-oldest daughter of Peter the Great and Catherine I of Russia. She was one of the best loved Russian monarchs, because she did not allow Germans in the government and not one person was executed during her reign.

Both the University of Moscow and the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg were established with her encouragement.
