Diego Maradonas last Argentina football shirt auctions in Chester, UK

Diego Maradonas last match Argentina shirt worn for the 1994 World Cup is auctioning in a UK sale

As we previously reported, legendary Liverpool footballer Tommy "the Anfield Iron" Smith is auctioning medals and memorabilia from across his career in Chester, UK.

These include his league title, FA Cup, UEFA Cup and European Cup winners' medals. Sold as 75 lots, Tommy's collection is expected to bring around 120,000 (approximately $190,500).

Specific lot estimates listed by the auctioneer include Smith's 1964/65 FA Cup winners medal (estimated at 8,000 - 10,000); a 1965/66 Division 1 Champions medal (4,000 - 6,000); and his 1973 UEFA Cup winners medal (3,000 - 4,000).

Also auctioning is Smith's 1974 FA Cup final match worn shirt. That is estimated at 3,000 - 4,000. But it isn't the only important shirt appearing in the sale...

Diego Maradona's last match-worn Argentina shirt is also auctioning, bearing the iconic blue and white striped short sleeves, Argentina badge, black Adidas lettering and Maradona's black number 10.

Maradona wore this shirt in his last-ever international appearance for Argentina against Nigeria in Boston, for the World Cup held in the USA, on June 25, 1994.

The player then gifted it to ex-international referee Juan Carlos Loustau, one of the most famous referees in South America.

A condition report for this shirt is available on request, and it will appear estimated at 8,000 - 10,000.

Of course, owning the match-worn football shirt of one of history's greatest players is impressive. But how about owning a rare football shirt autographed by 22 members of the 2009 England football squad?

We have one for sale here a Paul Fraser Collectibles, signed by Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard among others. Click here to find out more.
