Depeche Mode takes centre stage with Hublot

The English pop band and Swiss watchmaker have teamed up to put collectibles towards a good cause

It's a collaboration no one could have predicted: the veteran English electronic band Depeche Mode has teamed up Swiss with watchmakers Hublot and auctioneers Patrizzi & Co.

The purpose is to stage a never-to-be-repeated auction in benefit of Britain's Teenage Cancer Trust.

Online bidding is already underway on 12 unique collectible timepieces - each featuring an artwork from one of Depeche Mode's dozen studio albums as a watch face.

Only one of each watch has been produced, and will be sold in a wonderfully designed and themed presentation box.

Thewatch boxes will also contain gifts personally chosen by the members of Depeche Mode -including a USB key containing a digital edition of the album, commentary and a documentary, and an original album artwork print and framed gold CD.

And autograph collectors take note: each watch will also be sold with a photograph signed by all members of the group, including original members Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder.

Online bidding closes on February 24, 2010. The auction's proceeds will be presented to Teenage Cancer Trust on the penultimate date of Depeche Mode's current tour, in Dusseldorf, Germany.

According to their music label, EMI, Depeche Mode have sold over 100m albums and singles worldwide, making them the most successful electronic music group in music history.
