A gun used at the Battle of Gettysburg will sell alongside civil war memorabilia

On October 12 in Georgia, Stevens Auction Company will sell the historic Dancy-Polk House Inn, formerly owned by jazz bandleader Jan Garber, along with its contents, which include a gun used at Gettysburg and civil war memorabilia.

Gettysburg Union Cannon Gun The cannon was used by Union troops in the Battle of Gettysburg

The private collection of civil war artefacts and memorabilia spans five decades and includes guns, buckles, breast plates as well as a drum used by a drummer boy to lead troops into the historic Battle of Gettysburg.

The 3.67 caliber battlefield cannon will provide the highlight of the sale, accompanied by letter of documentation.

The Dancy-Polk House Inn was one of just four buildings in Decatur, Georgia to survive the civil war and was used as the headquarters for the Union Army each time the city was under siege.
