An 1844 First Edition of Alexandre Dumas's much-loved tale will sell at Artcurial, priced 50,000
A rare first edition of Alexandre Dumas's (1802-1870) classic fable, The Three Musketeers, will be auctioned at Artcurial in Paris next Tuesday (June 15).
The rare copy will be sold in contemporary binding with a smooth spine. Its condition report lists some "clumsy" restoration to its leather cover, a small scratch and a few light spots.
Despite its few cosmetic imperfections, this copy is still very rare and will appear for sale at Artcurial with an impressive estimate of 30,000-50,000.

Alexandre Dumas, pre, was born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie in July 1802. Hisrenowned historical adventure novels include The Count of Monte Cristo and The Vicomte de Bragelonne.
This copy of The Three Musketeers - featuring thefamous adventures of Athos, Porthos, Aramis and their friend D'Artagnan - was first published by Paris, Baudry in 1844.
