Corgi James Bond cars expected to total $5,500 in UK auction

A pack of 6 Corgi James Bond Aston Martin DB5 toy cars comes in mint condition

A trade pack of six Corgi toys of James Bond's famous Aston Martin DB5 will sell through C&T Auctions today (October 2) in Kent, UK.

The cars, now nearly 50 years old, have been given a 2,500-3,500 ($4,053-5,675) estimate, but could sell for much more given their rarity.

They were kept by a Corgi sales representative when they should have been distributed to toy shops. The rep then held them for over 30 years, before selling them to a private collector.

Thankfully, having avoided retail and therefore the hands of playing children, they remain in mint condition. Once the box is opened however, their value will decrease significantly.

Unlike the car used for the films, the Corgi versions are sprayed gold. They feature an ejector seat, which launches a James Bond figure through the roof. Complete with the original boxes, including the cellophane wrapper, they are to be sold with a letter from Corgi that reads in five languages:

"Mr Retailer, the instructions are packed in the compartment in the base of every inner display stand, please make sure that every young purchaser realises this"

The inner pictorial display stand is highly coveted by toy car collectors, with the instructions explaining the cars hidden functions, which include a bulletproof rare windshield and machine guns that appear from the bumper.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has some brilliant James Bond autographs for sale.
