Complete Coca-Cola calendar collection offers unique opportunity

Collectors will flock to Morphy Auctions' sale of a complete run of Coca-Cola calendars

A complete run of the highly collectible Coca-Cola calendars is expected to draw crowds at Morphy Auctions on August 22-24.

1900 Coca-Cola calendar Many of the calendars in Breslow's collection are the finest examples known

The sale presents a unique opportunity for collectors of Coca-Cola memorabilia, with auction house owner Dan Morphy saying: "I can't even tell you if I know anyone else who has a complete run of Coca-Cola calendars."

The collection, compiled by Gordon P Breslow, includes every calendar issued by Coca-Cola since 1896, and many are the finest examples known.

"Many of the calendars in Gordon's collection are one of fewer than six known, and all are in spectacular condition," Morphy added.

"The opportunity just doesn't arise for Coca-Cola collectors to be able to fill the missing slots in their calendar collections, but here we have a collection that includes a calendar from every single year since 1896. I suspect we'll see some very competitive bidding and perhaps even a world record price."

The most valuable is one of only two in near mint condition from 1900, which shows the model and actress Hilda Clark, and is estimated at $50,000-100,000.

There is also an 1896 calendarbelieved to be the only surviving example from that year which has retained its calendar pad. Graded excellent plus to near mint, it is displayed in a deep shadow box and gilt frame, and holds and estimate of $30,000-60,000.

The spectacular slot machine is one of the best examples known to collectors

Early soda brands highlight the sale, with a 1900 Hires "Munimaker" root beer dispenser, used as a salesman's sample and made of marble and glass, offered at $40,000-60,000.

A Pepsi-Cola pottery syrup dispenser will be available at $30,000-40,000, as the lead lot of more than 150 soda fountain dispensers.

The most valuable lot in the sale is a Mills Double Dewey 5 cent/25 cent upright slot machine with original music, which will sell with a $100,000-125,000 estimate.
