Collectors will Judge 'one of the finest Pontiacs in the country' at Mecum

This 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge is a show-winner with television and book appearances under its belt

If you're in the market for a classic and valuable American muscle car, then Mecum's upcoming auction in St Charles, Illinois, on September 15-18 could be a great place to look.

This 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge is extensively documented and, according to Mecum, "enjoys a high profile in the Pontiac community as one of the finest in the country." Itshistory includes at least one television and book appearance.

The Judge was bought from its original owners with just 38,000 miles on the odometer before being treated to afull frame-off restoration by Best of Show in Chicago, IL.

Westech or Silver Lake, Wisconsin, then handled the job of rebuilding the car's original Ram Air III engine and Muncie M20 4-speed transmission. Both retain all the major original components.

A new carpet was installed in the otherwise original Blue interior, which features bucket seats, console, Rally gauges and a tachometer.

What's more, this car has competition pedigree to match its condition, including winning Outstanding in Class Award at the 2002 World of Wheel. The car has also taken numerous popular vote awards at the annual "Indian Uprising" held by the Cruisin' Tigers GTO Club

The GTO's television appearance was in the debut episode of V8TV, the popular muscle car restoration show. It also appears prominently in the bookGTO: Pontiac's Great Oneby Darwin Holmstrom with photography by David Newhardt.

As mentioned, the car will sell with a wealth of documentation - including a handwritten history, complete with photographs and mileage logs by the original owners, full PHS documentation and a full record of its restoration.

Boasting low miles, a full frame-off restoration, impressive provenance and full documentation of its history, this show-worth classic automobile will definitely be one to watch at Mecum's upcoming sale.
