Collectible Pfluefer Fishing Tackle

Collectible Pfluefer Fishing Tackle is vintage fishing tackle produced by the manufacturer the E.A. Pflueger Company.

Brief history

In 1881, Ernest F. Pflueger established a fish hook company (which was originally called the Enterprise Manufacturing Company but later renamed as the E.A. Pflueger Company by his son), and his fishing equipment has since become a "benchmark" for the fishing reel industry.

The Pflueger Baitcast reel was introduced in 1916, followed by the Pflueger spinning reel in 1954. Today, the company has expanded to produce various baitcast reels, spinning reels, ultralite reels, lures, fly rods, and much more.

Guide for collectors

Pflueger fishing lures or reels that were manufactured before 1960 are considered to be more rare and valuable among collectors. Pflueger fishing lures with glass eyes are also considered to be valuable.

Restoration of a Pflueger fishing lure or reel is recommended, but only if there is noticeable damage. (However, restoring a Pflueger reel and/or lure could decrease the item's value).
