Classic Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona Spider rolls to $1m at Amelia Island
One of only 124 factory Ferrari GTB/4 Spiders was a big star at the Concours d'Elegance auction
Porsches led the way at last weekend's $23m-netting Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance classic cars auction in Florida. But where were the Ferraris?
Enzo's finest were represented by this 1971 Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona Spider, sold for $1m.
This car is one of only 124 factory Spiders ever produced, as well as being a former FCA Platinum Award and concours winner.
The car's impressive pedigree includes having been documented by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini.
The 1971 Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona Spider
Under its coachwork, reliably designed by the legendary Scaglietti, the Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona Spider is powered by a 4,390 CC DOHC V-12 engine, producing 352 BHP at 7,500 RPM.
Given this car's established Concours pedigree, expect to see a lot more of it at the world's top classic car events after this sale.
Elsewhere, the star automobile at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance classic cars auction was a 1929 Cord L-29 Special Coupe by The Hayes Body Corporation.
