Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 2000 brings 22% increase to Christie's

Christie's two-day wine sale saw a 12-bottle lot of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 2000 sell well

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild's 2000 vintage proved to be the drink of choice at Christie's New York's two-day auction entitled A Gentleman's Palate, A Journey through Three Centuries of Wine.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild Younger fine wines display strong investment potential, often increasing in value as they reach their optimum drinking years

The sale spannedfrom Bordeaux's golden era in the 19th century - starting with 1879 Chateau Ausone - to the late 2000s.

It was one of theyoungest wines in the sale that scored the highest bids, with the 12-bottle case of 2000 Mounton-Rothschild selling with a 22% increase on its $12,000 high estimate at $14,640.

Also selling well was Domaine de la Romanee Conti's La Tache, a dozen bottles of which also realised $14,640, this time against a $12,000-18,000 high estimate.

Following was a case of Chateau Latour's 2000 vintage, which just topped its $12,000 high estimate at $12,200.
