Per Holmberg, the head of wine at Christie's New York, explains more.

"Ever since chef Charlie Trotter announced his retirement earlier this year after 25 years at the helm of his eponymous Chicago restaurant, legions of wine collectors around the world have been hoping they might have this opportunity to acquire something for themselves from this magnificent cellar," he said.

"From DRC to Gajz, Vega Sicilia to Screaming Eagle and beyond, this cellar truly has everything that a collector's heart desires."

Another of the highlights will be provided by a 12-bottle 1997 DRC assortment, which has a $20,000 high estimate.

And Burgundy collectors are in for a further treat courtesy of a dozen bottles of the 1999 Clos de Vougeot, which could achieve up to $9,000.

Bordeaux offerings are led by a $4,000-estimated bottle of 1945 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild.

Among the Champagne, three magnums of 1990 Dom Perignon Oenotheque have a matching valuation.

Bidders will have the opportunity to purchase further bottles from the cellar at Christie's online only auction, which runs from November 20 to December 4.
