The strip originates from the classic storyline It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which was originally published on October 31, 1965. The 15-panel piece features a trick or treat sequence in which Lucy attempts to collect Halloween treats on her brother Linus' behalf, who is waiting for the "Great Pumpkin" to appear.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown was later made into the third Peanuts TV special, which was aired a year after the originalpublication,on Halloween 1966. In 2006, a retrospective book was released tocelebrate the 40th anniversary of this memorable storyline.

The strip has been signed "Best wishes - Charles Schulz" below the title frame in blue ink. As seen in the picture above, there is significant staining to the title frame as well as toning throughout, hampering its otherwise good condition. Featuring production notations in the borders, it is currently selling for $13,155, after attracting four bids.

Another strip fromPeanuts is also featuring in the sale, selling at $4,608. The four-panel, hand drawn strip, which was first published in 1971, features Sally handing in a sub-par book report and then asking her teacher "what are the odds on a little love and understanding?"
