Charles Dickens Works Donohue, Henneberry & Co.
My husband had gotten a set of ten novels written by Charles Dickens, and published by Donohue, Henneberry & Co. before that company had changed to M.A. Donohue & Company. Our dilemma is that there are other replicas of this set, only the sets we had found while researching were not as old as ours. They are a reprint of the first edition and not dated. They are very old to where if I had bent a corner of any page- it would crumble/crack off. They were collected by my husbands Great-great Aunt from Tulsa, OK. We have searched and have found hardly any information and it is my belief that they are at least 100 years old. Would like to find out if anybody can give us any information about the set. Knowing the value would be nice to know as well. Charles Dickens is absolutely one of the greatest authors of all time and the most important value in them is being able to hold them in my hands, whether they are worth a pretty penny or not, salvaging these books is a sweet part of history.
I also added two extra photos of newspaper clippings that apparently my husbands aunt had saved of Dicken's son and grand-daughters. I just thought that was pretty awesome that they were in one of the books; for your enjoyment, if you appreciate history. :) Make sure to look at the photos of the books that I uploaded. I know the condition is somewhat rough on the binding, no doubt they were in a sun lighted view for many years. I really hope that someone can give us some insight!! Thank you!!
