Celebrity signed guitar auction to raise Hurricane Sandy relief funds

Top celebrities and musicians such as Johnny Depp and Ritchie Blackmore have donated signed guitars

The Sweet Relief Eastern Musicians Fund, which includes celebrity names such as Johnny Depp and Ritchie Blackmore, is holding an online auction of signed guitars which closes later today.

A line-up of the world's top guitarists have donated signed instruments, which will be sold in an effort to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's signed signature Fender Stratocaster is currently leading at $4,750.

Blackmore is widely considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and is revered among musicians as one of the first to blend classical elements with his hard rock style.

Actor and guitarist Johnny Depp has donated a signed guitar and limited edition poster from his surprise appearance at Petty Fest West, a concert held on November 14 to celebrate the music of Tom Petty, with 100% of the proceeds donated to Hurricane Sandy relief.

The actor is known for his impromptu stage appearances, most recently appearing at Alice Cooper's Los Angeles concert at the beginning of December and at the MTV Movie Awards 2012.The guitar and poster are currently selling for a combined $1,600.

Also starring is a Gretsch Country Gentleman signature guitar signed by Neil Young, which is selling for $3,850 as the second most valuable lot. The 1962 guitar is worth around $2,400 alone, making this an unmissable opportunity for collectors.
