Cartier's $130k watch defies expectations

The Swiss watchmaker's Rotonde de Cartier is the latest in its 'non-conformist' high tech range

Cartier continues to fly in the face of what's expected ofits fashion-focused brand, withits new Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Flying Tourbillon watch.

The Swiss luxury watchmaker has recently been swimming against the tide with a growing series of technologically complex timepieces.

Its latest Flying Tourbillon is another highly limited addition to Cartier's range, intended to complimentits high-end haute jewellery watches for women.

Along with the iconic "C"-shaped bridge, the gears and working mechanics ofthe timepiece's9455 MC calibre movement are artfully close together, along with a flying tourbillon escapement.

Its thin case measures 45mm in width, polished 18 karat white gold with a matching white gold buckle on its black alligator strap.

The Swiss watch bears the illustrious Seal of Geneva to ensure prospective buyers that this piece is at the forefront of luxury watches.

Limited to just 100 examples worldwide and highly desired,the Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Flying Tourbillon is priced around $130,000.
