Bronte first edition set could make $135,500

The first edition set features all the novels by each Bronte sister

A complete first edition set of the Bronte sisters' novels are to auction with a 60,000-80,000 ($101,784-135,712) estimate at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury in London on May 19.

The three sisters are among the most famous voices in the English language and are credited with the development of the form of the novel.

The collection was accumulated by Thomas Lincoln Chadbourne (1871-1938), a US lawyer, and is now being consigned by his family.

The collection is likely to sell very well at auction. In June last year a first edition copy of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre made 39,650 ($61,949) at Bonhams London, while another example made 53,750 ($87,979) at Sotheby's in December.

We have this signed copy of Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf - who wrote extensively on the Bronte sisters.
