Bonnie Parker's snub-nosed .38 Colt Detective Special and Clyde Barrow's .45 Colt Model 1911 are now set to remain together, after a single bidder managed to secure both guns.

The Colt Detective Special, which was found strapped to the inside of Bonnie's thigh, sold for $264,000, while the Colt Model 1911 automatic, which was tucked inside Clyde's waistband, brought $240,000 - a total realisation of $504,000.

The prices achieved represent a 5.95% pa return on the $100,000 collector Robert Davis paid for the two guns in 1986.

Both weapons were retrieved from the scene after the criminal couple were ambushed and killed by a posse in 1934. All of the items originate from the collection of Texas Ranger Frank Harmer, who was awarded them for his part in the operation.

Also featuring in the sale were more items that were found in the car they were driving at the time. Clyde's pocket watch sold for $36,000, while a 1921 Morgan dollarfound in his pocket achieved $32,000. Bonnie's silk stocking sold for $11,400.

For crime collectors, Paul Fraser Collectibles is currently offering the personal memorabilia collection of Albert Pierrepoint - Britain longest serving hangman. Included in the collection is his journal, which records every individual he hanged during his lengthy career.
