Bonhams announces next 'Space Sale'

More space memorabilia can be yours to own, at the sequel to the highest-grossing space auction

Following the success of Bonhams' first Space Sale on July 16, 2009 - the highest-grossing American space history auction ever - the auction house is inviting consignments its next sale.

The next auction will be timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Apollo 13, and promises to include more flown and unflown artefacts.

Nearly 400 lots of space exploration memorabilia appeared at the New York July sale, timed to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of man's first steps on the Moon.

Flight plan sheets, emblems, hardware, lunar surface equipment, star charts and photographs were among the popular items.

Without a doubt the most coveted item of the event was the Apollo 11 Lunar Surface star chart used by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to take measurements on the surface of the moon immediately after the Eagle's landing.

Of great historical importance, the lot sparked a long round of furious bidding and sailed past its estimate of $70-90,000 with a final price of $218,000.
