Beatlemania 2009 continues...

Fans line up for a new video game based on the Beatles and their albums have been re-released

The Beatles: Rock Band video game which has been made with the help of Dhani Harrison, son of the late George Harrison, has had fans queuing up outside stores in London and Liverpool.

The game, which has been demonstrated on The Letterman Show allows you to play the Beatles' songs with controllers shaped liked instruments.

The longest queues outside HMVs were naturally in London and Liverpool, and included a number of interested people from overseas.

"My parents were huge Beatles fans," Daniela Gutierrez of Mexico City told the Sun, "I can't wait to start playing the songs."

It's another reminder of the Beatles' enduring and worldwide appeal, which is what makes their memorabilia so collectible, with supposedly their most expensive piece of memorabilia made available recently.

The first 99 copies of the game at each HMV was sold for 9.99, in honour of the date (9.9.09). 14 cleaned up albums were released on the same day, and one or other is expected to top the charts, probably Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Revolver.

Despite this, car collector Simon Cowell has said that the Beatles would not have made it onto any of his talent shows, let alone won, because of Ringo.

In a recent interview he told Amanda Holden "We would have said, 'We'll take those three but we'll probably lose the drummer.'"
