Bart Simpson is a cartoon character from The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening.
Voiced by Nancy Cartwright, Bart is a 10-year-old child who is often perceived as a troublemaker. A good boy at heart, Bart Simpson often fails to show this due to his constant implementation of bad ideas which get him into trouble on a regular basis.
Bart only son of Marge and Homer Simpson, and the brother of Lisa and Maggie Simpson.
Bart’s catchphrases include “Aye Carumba”, “Eat my shorts” and “cowabunga”.
Many pieces of artwork from the making of The Simpsons have been sold at auction.
A felt tip sketch of Bart Simpson was sold by Universal Rarities on 4 March 2006. The sketch was produced and signed by Matt Groening. It sold for $375.
On 10 September 2006, a six layer hand painted production cell depicting Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Homer Simpson was sold by Clark’s Fine Art & Auctioneers. Despite a pre-sale estimate of $500-$800, the piece sold for only $475.
A hand painted production cell showing Bart and Lisa Simpson playing Scrabble fetched $300 at a Heritage Auction Galleries sale in May 2010.
A Bart Simpson doll signed by Matt Groening accompanied by a 5”x7” sketch of Apu was sold by Heritage Auction Galleries in an online sale on 16 July 2010. The lot sold for $657.25.
