Banksy Slave Labour mural withdrawn from Miami auction

A US auction has withdrawn its Banksy mural, dubbed Slave Labour, under pressure

A Miami-based auction house has withdrawn a Banksy mural dubbed Slave Labour from its latest sale, after pressure from local London residents.

Banksy missing mural auction The controversial piece appeared just before the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, though Poundland was reportedly pleased with it

The piece first appeared on the side of a Poundland store in north London in May 2012, but disappeared a few weeks ago before re-appearing in the auction house's catalogue, valued at $500,000-700,000.

Faced with anger from local residents, the auction house insisted that the sale was legitimate, though the piece was withdrawn just hours before it was due to be sold. The auction house refused to comment.
