Apollo 11 flight plan to make $2,500 in Lunar Legacies auction

The 14th Lunar Legacies Space Memorabilia Auction stars an Apollo 11 flight plan

An Apollo 11 flight plan is among many star lots in the 14th Lunar Legacies Space Memorabilia Auction, which has now opened for bidding online.

The sale is due to close on August 16, with the Apollo 11 flight plan set to sell for $2,000-2,500. Dated July 1, 1969, it has several hundred pages of timelines, charts, illustrations and other information.

Also starring is a hold-down bolt used to launch STS-135, the final shuttle mission conducted by NASA. Mounted to a presentation plaque, it was presented to launch director Michael Leinbach, and will sell with a $1,500-2,000 estimate.

One of the most exciting items in the sale is a Silver Snoopy lapel pin flown on the Apollo 8 mission and presented to a worker by astronaut Jim Lovell. Complete with his letter of authenticity, the pin is expected to make $2,000-2,500.

Jim Lovell is currently selling a lot of his space-flown memorabilia, having won the right to do so after questions from NASA. In March 2013, the notes that Jim Lovell made during the Apollo 13 mission made $84,000 with Bonhams.
