Antique Chinese jade pendant set to mesmerise collectors in New York auction

A New York auction house has a range of unique collectibles including an antique Chinese jade pendant

A New York City auctioneer is holding an auction with an impressive range of jewellery, decorative arts and antiques on February 4 - just in time for Valentine's Day, if anyone is looking for a unique and stylish gift.

These include a beautiful Paul Storr coffeepot, one of 50 silver items likely to impress collectors - the Tiffany and George Jensen items in particular are well worth a peek.

"It's shaping up to be another auction filled with great investment pieces and, perhaps, an exciting discovery or two," said co-owner Rob Roland.

Roland stressed that customers should pay particular attention to a collection of Chinese antiques, which certainly makes sense given the way the markets for jade and porcelain artifacts from Asia has been going.

The auctioneer's last sale had a truly spectacular result in this field when an ivory brush pot sold for many times its highest expectations following some ferocious bidding.

Here there are fine enamel opium boxes, jade and carvings in ivory, jade and even bamboo and outstanding bronzes from various periods. Roland and his staff must be waiting with baited breath

Numismatists will be impressed by a range of American coins too.

One particular lot is creating a lot of excitement at Roland: a magnificent Max Ernst bronze, the cornerstone of an exciting collection of modern art.

Extensive internet live bidding will be available for the sale.
