Andy Warhol's Knives screen-print to auction on March 7

Will a rare screen print by Andy Warhol entitled Knives bring $3m?

A rare screen print by the godfather of pop art, Andy Warhol (1928-1987), is to auction in New York on March 7. The circa 1981-1982 work, which features three crossed kitchen knives and has been stamped and numbered by Warhol, carries a $2m-3m estimate.

Having sold at Christie's London in 2005 for 344,000 ($638,808), should Knives achieve its $3m high estimate, it will have risen in value at the impressive rate of 19.1% pa.

For this very reason, works by Warhol are hot property among investors, who consider the artist something of a safe bet. Current prices represent limited supply coupled with ever-increasing demand. Forthcoming opportunities to buy works by the contemporary master include Christie's online Andy Warhol auction, which closes on March 5.

Our sister company PFC Auctions is thrilled to be able to offer this iconic Warhol-worn black polo neck. Bidding on this, and many more remarkable items, ends on February 28. Don't miss out.
